G1. What is ZapZone™ ?
ZapZone™ is a Wi-Fi compliant wireless internet service by Macro Lynx Sdn Bhd, a premier broadband internet service provider. ZapZone™ subscriber management and authentication system provide its customers with premium wireless internet access service seamlessly available at selected location in hotels, cafes, restaurants, clubs, community centers, event centers, network providers and many other places with the ZapZone™ logo.
 
G2. How does the service work?
ZapZone™ uses 802.11b or "Wi-Fi technology", the most popular standard for wireless LAN networks. It brings you the broadband internet of up-to 11 megabits per second to a range of up-to 1,000 feet. Just power up your computer and the wireless PC card will search for available wireless networks and connect you within seconds.
 
G3. How fast is the ZapZone™ service?
That's much more faster than dial-up connections. It brings you up-to 11 Mbps download speeds.
 
G4. How do I become a ZapZone™ subscriber?
  • By Subscription
    - Step 1: Application form is available for download at here.
    - Step 2: Fill-in the necessary details, sign and fax the application form to 03-2163 7020
    - Step 3: Payment by cheque to MACRO LYNX SDN BHD or using our online payment system via Maybank2u or RHB Bank.
    - Step 4: We will process your application and reply via e-mail, fax or sms upon clearance of your payment


  • By Prepaid
    - Step 1: Purchase the ZapZone™ prepaid card from our appointed agents
    - Step 2: Logon to www.zapzone.com.my to activate your prepaid card by entering PIN number at our hotspot locations

The ZapZone™ service is available in distinct packages:

    A premier wireless internet access package with unlimited usage for individual subscriber - RM40.00 per month with at least 6 months subscription.

G7. What is roaming?
Roaming is the ability to use the ZapZone™ hotspot account on another party's network. You may click here to check out our roaming partners directory.
   
 
Usage:
 
U1. What do I need to access the service?
  • For LAPTOP user:
    - Windows 98, 2000, ME, XP or Mac OS
    - Wireless PCMCIA card
    - Type II PCMCIA slot
    - Or laptop with built-in 802.11b capabilities Windows 98 / ME / 2000 / Xp or Mac OS
    - Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator
  • For PDA user:
    - Windows CE, Palm OS 5.0 or above
    - Expansion pack with PCMCIA slots
    - Wireless PCMCIA card
    - Or PDA with built-in 802.11b capabilities
    - Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator
** Laptop / PDA with a wi-fi compatible 802.11b card which is widely available in popular brands as Fulbond, Z-com, Avaya, Orinoco, Cisco, 3 com, Linksys, Dlink, SMC, Samsung and many others.
 
U2. Where can I use the service?
ZapZone™ wireless hotspot is available at many convenient locations internationally. You can connect to our selected hotspot locations listed in the locations directory.
 
U3. Can I access the service internationally?
Yes. We have partnerships with other hotspot providers internationally. Therefore, you may access the hotspot service at the roaming locations by signing-up ZapZone™ unlimited package.
 
U4. How do I login to use the service?
  • By Subscription
    - Step 1: Upon clearance of your payment, you will receive either an confirmation email or sms from our ZapZone™ team stated with the username and password which you had registered earlier in the application form.
    - Step 2: Just key-in the username and password in the login screen at our designated hotspot locations.
    - Step 3: You may access our service now.


  • By Prepaid
    - Step 1: Purchase the ZapZone™ prepaid card at selected agents.
    - Step 2: Logon to www.zapzone.com.my to activate your prepaid card by entering PIN number at our hotspot locations.
    - Step 3: Once completed, a message of "Congratulations! Your ZapZone™ card is now activated and verified." will appear. This is to acknowledge your account has been successfully activated.
    - Step 4: You may access our service now by using your username and password
 
U5. What if I forgot my password?
Please call our helpdesk no. at 603-2163 3241 if you forgot the password.
 
U6. How can I view / edit my account information?
You are only allowed to choose your username when you first login to our service. Therefore, the information that you have submitted is not editable anymore.
 
U7. How do I disconnect?
For laptop users, simply click "Disconnect" button in the logout window. For PDA users, just type http://1.1.1.1/logout to logout immediately.
 
U8. Do I need to log off from the system after using the service?
Certainly yes. If you do not log off properly, your account will automatically being locked by the system. When you login again, you will see the message "You have already logged in". Please contact our helpdesk no. at 603-2163 3241 to seek for assistance when you see this message. We will re-activate the account for you again.
 
U9. What if I have problems using the service?
If you experience difficulty in connecting to the wireless network, please contact our helpdesk no. at 603-2163 3241 for assistance. We appreciate your business and apologize for any inconvenience you may experience.
   
 
Trouble-shooting:
 
T1. Enable to connect / log on to the ZapZone network.
  • Make sure you are connected to our Wireless Network ACCESS-Mobility.
  • To confirm you have connected, check the IP Address which asigned by the device. Follow the steps :
         Start > Run > type cmd > click Open
         Type ipconfig/all
  • Check on the IP Address. The IP Address assigned is 10.59.1.x. If you do not get the IP Address, disable and enable the wireless connection.
  • "Please contact your system administrator" If you see this error message after you login. The possible problem is either the username or password is incorrect or your account is expired.
